We are just about 3 weeks away from the 37th Annual Gala. It will be held on Friday, February 17th at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain. This is by far the most celebrated event that the Chamber hosts all year (and we host a lot of events)!

I hope that you have secured your table because we are about sold out! We have a limited number of individual tickets for sale as well. If you haven’t got your spot yet, don’t hesitate or it will be too late! Get your tickets now!

The Chamber is excited to announce the nominees for the awards that will be presented that evening. Memo from the Executive Board: Carolynn Kearby-Chair, Jillian Justice-Childs Vice Chair, Maria Ball-Past Chair and Brynda Stranix-Treasurer

The Executive Board has accepted the resignation from Marni Sander’s as CEO of the Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce. It is hard to say good bye, however, we are very happy for Marni and wish her much success in her new role with Blue Zones. We know that with her leadership the Blue Zone Project will flourish, as the Chamber has.

We want to reassure the YS Chamber Members that the Executive Board has a plan going forward.  The Chamber efforts, projects, and mission will remain the same and we will continue to uphold the values that Marni has brought to the organization.  The Chamber staff, Jacki Lee and Kristen Perry, will continue in their current roles. 

Please direct all questions to the Executive Committee, you can reach out to me or any of the other executive board members.  At our next board meeting the Executive Board will lay out our plans and take any suggestions you may have.

Film Yuba-Sutter is here (program initiated by the Chamber)! Marni Sanders, Chamber CEO, along with film commissioner, Sabrina Jurisich presented an update on this project to City of Yuba City, City Council, and Yuba County, who have both expressed their intention to continue to support Film Yuba-Sutter’s efforts. Film Yuba-Sutter is also receiving support from Visit Yuba-Sutter and in the past has been supported by Sutter County and Marysville (presentations to these jurisdictions are set for February).

2023 UCAN Chamber Member Survey

The UCAN Chamber Member Survey has been extended to Wednesday, February 1 @ 5pm. 

Once again, the Chambers of Commerce associated with UCAN - the United Chamber Advocacy Network seek your perspective on key state-level public policy issues that impact your business, your employees, and our communities.

Since 2018, the UCAN chambers have worked together at the state level to advocate on behalf of your business….and we’ve had a good deal of success!!

1. Successfully lobbied against a bill that would have required employers to mandate COVID vaccines for their employees
2. Successfully worked with the Newsom Administration to reestablish the job search requirement for individuals to qualify for COVID-related unemployment benefits
3. Successfully lobbied Gov. Newsom to veto a bill that would have increased costs to forest thinning projects which would have resulted in fewer acres treated to prevent wildfires and erected barriers to local companies to qualify for contracts
4. Proactively cultivated relationships with the new legislators who assume their positions in 2023.

Survey outcomes will be presented as part of the 2023 UCAN State Policy Agenda, shared at a gathering of our local legislators and chamber members on Thursday, March 2, from 2 to 4:30 pm (location tbd).  Please mark your calendars!!
