10/3/2022 | Mental Health First Aid is an early intervention program. It teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a potential mental health challenge, how to listen nonjudgmentally and give reassurance to a person who may be experiencing a mental health challenge, and how to refer a person to appropriate professional support. Topics covered include depression and anxiety, trauma, psychoses, suicidal thoughts, dealing with panic attacks, identifying a substance abuse crisis, working with cultural differences, self care, and more. Lists of resources will be provided, which will prove invaluable in directing people to local agencies who can provide a wide variety of assistance and support. We use a variety of teaching tools, such as a powerpoint presentation, videos, class discussions, group activities, role play, independent worksheets, body movement exercises, and lecture. more info... |
