The Marysville Business Alliance, a program of the Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a wide array of fun activities around the Marysville Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting.  On Friday, December 2nd, join Marysville's Annual Christmas Tree Lighting beginning at 5:00 pm.  It will be fun for the whole family with Santa, Christmas music, food trucks, hot cocoa, fire trucks, shopping and a movie in the park, featuring Polar Express.  The Marysville Business Alliance and the Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce would also like to encourage shopping local.  With that, they are hosting a raffle with a number of wonderful prizes!  When shoppers shop at participating stores on D St and the adjoining side streets, they can enter to win!  The drawing will be held on December 3, during the Marysville Parade, but you do not need to be present to win.

Mental Health First Aid is an early intervention program.  It teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a potential mental health challenge, how to listen nonjudgmentally and give reassurance to a person who may be experiencing a mental health challenge, and how to refer a person to appropriate professional support.
Topics covered include depression and anxiety, trauma, psychoses, suicidal thoughts, dealing with panic attacks, identifying a substance abuse crisis, working with cultural differences, self care, and more.  Lists of resources will be provided, which will prove invaluable in directing people to local agencies who can provide a wide variety of assistance and support.  We use a variety of teaching tools, such as a powerpoint presentation, videos, class discussions, group activities, role play, independent worksheets, body movement exercises, and lecture.
This workshop is geared to Public Safety (Police, Sheriffs, Corrections officers, Administrative and Support Staff) as well as First Responders (Fire fighters, EMS Technicians, Nurses, Doctors, Office of Emergency Services Staff, Private Security Officers, Administrative and Support Staff).
