| 12/2/2022 | The Marysville Business Alliance, a program of the Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a wide array of fun activities around the Marysville Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting. On Friday, December 2nd, join Marysville's Annual Christmas Tree Lighting beginning at 5:00 pm. It will be fun for the whole family with Santa, Christmas music, food trucks, hot cocoa, fire trucks, shopping and a movie in the park, featuring Polar Express. The Marysville Business Alliance and the Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce would also like to encourage shopping local. With that, they are hosting a raffle with a number of wonderful prizes! When shoppers shop at participating stores on D St and the adjoining side streets, they can enter to win! | 12/5/2022 | Mental Health First Aid is an early intervention program. It teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a potential mental health challenge, how to listen nonjudgmentally and give reassurance to a person who may be experiencing a mental health challenge, and how to refer a person to appropriate professional support. Topics covered include depression and anxiety, trauma, psychoses, suicidal thoughts, dealing with panic attacks, identifying a substance abuse crisis, working with cultural differences, self care, and more. Lists of resources will be provided, which will prove invaluable in directing people to local agencies who can provide a wide variety of assistance and support. We use a variety of teaching tools, such as a powerpoint presentation, videos, class discussions, group activities, role play, independent worksheets, body movement exercises, and lecture.
