Thursday, March 7, 2019 - Friday, March 29, 2019
The Theater Art Gallery in Yuba City opens its March exhibit on  Thursday, March 7, with a welcoming Artist Reception from 5 - 7 pm. The event is free, offering complimentary refreshments. Our guest artist is MICOLA HOUSTON, whose vibrant acrylic paintings and pen and ink drawings are featured in this month’s show. Also on view are works by the gallery’s resident artists: Rosalynd Bliss, D.Ellen Day, Luisa Leger, Paul Spoto, and Janet Todd. Come and enjoy the show! The art show and sale runs from March 7 through March 29. The Theater Art Gallery is located under the striped awning at 756 Plumas Street, next to the Sutter Theater. Gallery hours are Thursday through Saturday 12 - 5 pm, and Wednesday by appointment. Call 908-5704 or 329-1733. Visit us at www.suttertheater.org or on Facebook.

Having lived overseas in France, England, Germany, and Japan as a child, MICOLA  HOUSTON found that experiencing life in different cultures enhanced his gift of keen observation. A graduate of Wheatland High School, Micola attended UC Davis, earning a degree in Studio Art. From there he attended graduate school in Interdisciplinary Art at San Francisco State University. He spent twenty years in Maui, Hawaii, where his interest spread from pen and ink watercolor drawings and acrylic painting to clay sculpture. His artwork has a dynamic quality, inspiring viewers to look beyond the colors and into the rhythmic patterns for meaning. He employs bold colors and abstract images which make his work interesting and visually pleasing. Micola’s latest passion is endeavoring to understand the culture of indigenous people, using their symbols and colors for inspiration. In describing his art, Micola muses that he is “in tune with nature and the spirit of life.” Come see for yourself and enjoy his captivating show in March.

The Theater Art Gallery is open every week, Thursday through Saturday, from noon to 5:00 pm, and Wednesday by appointment. Call 908-5704 or 329-1733. Proceeds from The Theater Art Gallery benefit the Sutter Performing Arts Association’s effort to renovate the Sutter Theater, turning it into a viable community center.  For more information, please visit our website at:  www.suttertheater.org, or visit us on Facebook.

The CA Dept of Fish and Wildlife, Gray Lodge Wildlife Area (Gridley, CA) is seeking volunteers, ages 18 and older, to take part in its annual Wood Duck Nest Box Program.  Working closely with a section leader, you will help maintain habitat and experience wildlife up close.  The crews of two or three workers will also collect detailed data, used to understand and enhance the local wood duck population and other wildlife, including wrens, owls and flycatchers.  Although the work can be physically challenging at times, this remains one of our most popular volunteer opportunities.  Maintenance checks are conducted twice per month, mornings, from April to July.  Most sections take about four hours to complete.  The orientation for this season-long program will be March 16th, 9 to 3:30 on Gray Lodge.  Reservations are required.  Space is limited.  Call or email for reservations or further details: (530) 846-7505 or Lori.Dieter@wildlife.ca.gov

The Merry Wives of Windsor (Main Stage)
Directed By: Lauren & Matt Coats
Performances: Mar.29th - April 21st

A warm-hearted romp with some of Shakespeare’s most clever and comedic characters. When the spirited Sir John Fallstaff proclaims his love for two young ladies of title, but fails to keep them separated, the plot thickens. In revenge, the two young ladies jointly appear to encourage him, deviously tricking him into a series of amusing and trying experiences! The wives are left with their reputations intact, but the corpulent knight is one again exposed for the fool he is. The funniest of Shakespeare’s plays. You won’t want to miss it!
